Wed 10/15/08

I can’t believe it’s only 10 days until we open the course (3 days for the Range). We still have so much to do. I feel like we’re just going around in circles. We’ve got weak areas that need spot seeding and some bunker fingers that need to be totally re-seeded because we haven’t gotten our latest order of replacement sprinklers in so we can get them properly watered. We’ve got greens to top-dress and try to get smoothed up. We’ve got waterlines to fix and cart paths to edge (Nine more this year) Bunkers to edge. Flower beds to prepare and plant. Ball-washers to clean & repair. Benches, tee markers, trash cans and ball-washer posts to get painted. We’ve still got a lot of mowing and contouring of tees, fairways and approaches to do. We’ve got to get all the mowers lowered (gradually) until we get them down to the height of cut we will open at. We’ve still got to go through more than 250 bunker rakes and replace bad heads and split handles and then we have to clear-coat all the handles so they will last more then three months. We’ve got to get the sand & seed mixed and all the containers ready. We’ve got to get all the yardage plates on the tees and fairways, and the new Falls Course markers trimmed. We still need to get the fairways fertilized one more time then get all the ropes and stakes in place and I’m sure there are a few more things that I’m forgetting, like I always do. But I think I'll call it quits for today.
