I had the opportunity to play the Desert Princess Resort and talk with a number of my fellow Superintendents on Thursday. The golf course played very well. The greens seemed to be quite a bit thicker and slightly plusher than ours, but they were considerable slower also. As for the fairway and roughs, they were pretty much the same color and thickness as ours, except that you could see where he painted a few of the most visible ones. (I'm sure it was because of all the local Superintendents playing)
In talking with the other guys, it seems that almost everyone said that they were having some sort of color issues this year because of all the Bermuda that came back, and the guy's that have Common Bermuda like we do were reporting some rather serious issues. Everyone however, was quite pleased with the warmer weather we are having and all agreed that if it continues for another week or so, color may no longer be an issue. It seems that we are all on the same page also, because every one of us are throwing fertilizer this week in order to take advantage of this weather.
