We had our annual conference call yesterday to discuss what we wanted to do for over-seeding this year. With the water restrictions that are coming our way in the near future, we want to be proactive by determining what we will and will not be able to do as far as reducing our water usage. This plan is not set in stone yet, but we are talking about not seeding the driving range fairway this year. (All three range tees will of course be seeded). We want to see what it looks like and to see if it would be possible to skip seeding some of the out of the way roughs in future years.
We also discussed increasing the amount of seed in the fairways and slightly reducing the amount of seed in the outer roughs this year. This should give us a little thicker turf in the fairways without any real noticeable difference to the roughs. The only possible draw-back to this is that it might be more difficult to show a definition between the fairways and roughs in December and January.
