This morning we lowered the height of cut on the greens to 0.125 (1/8") which is the height we always open at. Normally we have not gotten down to this height until 2 or 3 days before we open, so you can see that we are about a week ahead on our greens mowing schedule.
All of the fairways have now been mowed at least one time and have also been fertilized once.
Today we also have Schmidt Services (a professional custom spraying company)on property spraying all our fairways with a combination of Truflon* Ester and Primo Plant Growth Regulator. Both the Turflon and Primo will help keep the Bermuda grass from returning and choking out the new seedlings, and the Primo will help the new Rye grass grow and tiller (split and thicken up). Things are still looking pretty good as so far we have had less problems and set-backs then in other years.
