For the last couple of months I have been working with (fighting) the South Coast Air Quality Management District trying to get the proper permit to operate our above ground gasoline and diesel storage tanks. It seems that my predecessor never had our permit changed when they removed the under ground tanks and installed the above ground tanks, and supposedly we have been in violation ever since. The strange thing is that every year AQMD does an inspection of the tanks and we have always been in compliance according to their inspector, until this year that is. That's the fun part of dealing with a government agencies. They just change the rules whenever they want. I personally believe it's all about the money because everything seems to be good now that they have received my $1,200 permit processing fee.
