The rain along with all the fertilizer that we have been applying has sure kicked in. The course is starting to look pretty good. We still have some issues to deal with in a couple areas, but I don't think it's anything that can't be managed. We've done a bunch of spot seeding and we're going to give it the weekend and see how everything looks on Monday.
Now we just need to try to get everything else finished up. It's amazing how much other stuff there is to get done. Here's just a partial list to give you an idea.
* Painting tee markers, yardage signs, ball washer poles, bag racks and sign frames.
* Repairing and steam cleaning ball washers and trash receptacles.
* Replacing rake head and handles and covering with Vinylguard.
* Replacing flags, flag sticks and reflector prisms.
* Edging bunkers and cart paths.
* Grinding (sharpening) reels on 4 greens mowers, 4 tee mowers, 3 approach mowers, 2 fairway mowers and 2 rough mowers.
* Mowing everything, then lowering height of cuts and re-mowing.
* Cleaning the grass growing in the cracks of cart paths.
* Weed-whacking around everything that the big mowers can not get close enough to mow.
* Placing 263 bunker rakes, 144 tee markers, 28 gate post and numerous signs back on the course.
* Putting out over 700 stakes to rope the entire golf course.
Like I said, this is just a partial list of all the other stuff that doesn't really get thought about much, but is an important part of the over-seeding process.
