You know, with the holidays approaching this should be the happiest time of the year. But I really dislike December. We usually get our first frost of the year that turns all the Bermuda yellow and the Rye grass quits growing. The days are short, which means the turf gets very little sunlight and warmth to help it grow and the greens get a whole lot faster then we want them to be. And there's really not much you can do about it. Even fertilizing doesn't do much good because the soil temperature is too low for the plant to uptake the nutrients. Then on top of that you add in the coots and cart traffic and you've got a real headache. All that I want for Christmas is a lot of sunlight and some 80 degree days.
