I hope everyone had a great Christmas. I was having a great one until I got to work this morning. I don't know what was worse, the ice cold wind or the huge mess it caused everywhere. It's probably going to take us a few days to get everything picked up. It's probably going to take a few days for us to warm up too. Fortunately though, there wasn't any complete trees knocked down, or even any really huge limbs. Just a bunch of small stuff that's time consuming to get picked up.
I still can't believe how cold that wind was today. They say tonight the low temperature should be around 33 degrees. Lets hope it stays windy throughout the night, because the wind should keep the temperatures slightly warmer (although it won't feel like it). But if the wind dies down, we could be in for a pretty heavy frost tonight. I've already discussed the possibility of frost tomorrow morning with John in the golf shop and told him that if we do have frost, we would skip mowing greens and changing cups. We have also shut the irrigation off for tonight which will leave less moisture in the plant to freeze. The combination of those should make for a much shorter frost delay in the morning.
