Today we are lightly top-dressing the greens to help fill in the ball marks and help keep them smooth and rolling true. The sand will also help to keep the turf slightly warmer, which in turn will help them stay healthy and grow. We will try to get them fertilized later in the week if all goes as planned. We also plan to start injecting fertilizer and iron on the entire golf course this week to try and help hold as much of the color as we can, now that the temperatures are starting to drop. Boy, wouldn't it be wonderful if we could get through December without a frost. That's my Christmas wish.
Have I mentioned that I have finally tracked down a couple of loads of the free clean blow sand that we use for top-dressing tees. We have also purchased an additional 3,000 pounds of seed from Indian Wells CC today. Looks like we're back in business. We're getting a couple of the tees on the par three holes seeded and top-dressed today.
Has anyone noticed that we changed the flag color rotation on the greens the last few days? We went from red-white-blue to blue-white-red. Not that it really changes anything, we just thought it would be something different for a while.
