Miguel Vargas is out of the hospital and seems to be doing OK. Unfortunately, he will be off work indefinitely. Naturally we just let another guy go on vacation right as Miguel took sick.
Anyway, we passed our State Pesticide Inspection with flying colors today. That's something we don't have to worry about for another year. We also got the light top-dressing on the greens completed today.
We finally got the chemical in today to treat for the cutworms on the greens. You may have noticed the real little brown circles that almost look like unrepaired ball marks this last week, especially in the mornings. These are caused by the cutworms coming out of the ground at night and eating the grass blades around their exit hole. There has been a run on the chemical because the entire valley is being hit with them this year and they have not been a problem for the last several years. Now that we have the chemical, we will treat them first thing tomorrow morning and you should see the greens fully recovered by Monday.
