It’s been a tough week, especially for our irrigation system. We’ve had 4 different satellites that control the nightly watering, malfunction on 4 different nights. One that irrigates 5 & 8 fairways, one for 2 fairway, one for 4 & 9 fairways and one for the accounting office area. We’ve also had two water line breaks and numerous sprinklers that suddenly decided to stop working. One of the water line breaks was on the 7th hole and the other on the 18th hole.
We finally got around to patching up the cart path between 12 green and 13 tee and pulling and/or repairing all the bad sand trap rake handles. Those two projects have been on our list for awhile, so it’s nice to get them done. This week we have also started throwing fertilizer to help promote the Bermuda grass. On the 14th of the month, we will be fertilizing greens and then top-dressing them lightly on the 18th. On the 26th and 27th we will be doing our annual deep drill aerification and top-dressing on the greens. I have a feeling it’s going to be a long and busy summer for us. I hope all of you members that have gone back to your "cooler climates" think about us once in a while as we slave away in the 118 degree heat this summer.
