We are just barely into the start of the season and the greens are already loaded up with ball-marks. Our monthly greens top-dressing will help, but that won't be enough. I've noticed by watching, that a good percentage of golfers do repair their ball-marks, they just don't know how to repair them properly. Most people stick there repair tool into the ground and pry the soil up to fill in the hole. This leaves a round dirt spot that will take several weeks to heal. The correct procedure is to stick the divot tool into the ground at an angle at the edge of the divot, then gently pull the turf back over the hole and pat it down softly. The idea is to pull the scrunched up turf back over the ball-mark so it can heal in a couple of days rather then taking weeks. If a ball-mark is properly repaired, you will hardly know it existed.
