What a busy week this has been. The wind finally calmed down enough that we were able to get the greens fertilized yesterday. (Only one day behind) We were also finally able to finish up spraying the grass around all the bunker edges and around the trees. We actually need to start them over again because the wind has slowed this project up so much that the first ones we sprayed are starting to grow back already.
We also need to be aware that we are starting transition time again. That's where the winter grass starts to check-out and the summer grass starts coming in. We need to remember that the winter grass can check-out in a hurry (especially in windy conditions)and it can take a few weeks to fill back in. We will be attempting to spot aerify (as time allows) and fertilize (as budget allows) some of these transition areas to help them recover a little quicker. The wind is always the most critical factor because it doesn't matter how much you aerify and fertilize, if you can't get good irrigation coverage, it just won't fill in.
