I will be off property Wednesday and Thursday using up some much needed vacation time. Here is a copy of the report I submitted to Tim for the upcoming committee meetings.

Golf Committee & Board of Governors Report
November 2011

1. The overall course conditions are what we expect for this time of year. With the shorter days, overcast skies and less sunlight, the course appears off color in some areas, especially in the outlying rough areas that get less fertilizer. The greens are filling in nicely but are starting to get a lot of ballmarks. We sweetened up all the greens with additional seed last week prior to top-dressing them and they were all fertilized again on 11/29/11

2. On Tuesday 11/22/11 we lowered the height of cut on the greens from 0.125 (1/8”) to 0.105 (just over 7/64”) and they are currently rolling at around 9.6”

3. We have placed the remaining excess bunker sand from this summer’s project into the three practice bunkers.

4. We will be closing the driving range on Thursday 12/1/11 for about an hour immediately following the morning shotgun for reseeding the tee.

5. The driving range will be closed again on 12/7/11 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM to spray it out and paint the target greens.

6. We have replaced over 40 sprinkler lids (tops) in the last 30 days. This will be an ongoing project.

7. The 90-degree rule put back into place this year has been working well. The carts seem to not be driving in the same areas near as much as they did the last two years, creating less wear areas.

8. I want to mention again that the ballmarks on the greens are getting bad. PLEASE remember to repair yours (and one other).

9. Apparently, homeowners are still feeding the ducks and coots. We are in the process of getting “Please do not feed the Ducks” signs made to install around the areas where they are being fed. The “Bird Man” has limited the birds in most areas except where they are being fed.
