Boy, I am looking so forward to some warmer weather. We are finally suppose to get some temperatures into the 70's this week, which will help slightly. But what we really need is some days in the 80's with nighttime temperatures in the mid 60's or higher. We need to get the soil temperatures up to at least 50-degrees so that the plant becomes active and will start taking up the nutrients to get it growing again. Currently our soil temperatures are holding at 44-degrees. The problem is that even if we do hit 70-degrees, it doesn't hit that highest temperature until around 1:00 PM and it only stays at that temperature for an hour or so. That is not enough time to raise the soil temperatures. The last time we hit 80-degrees was way back on November 1st. Other then maybe yesterday, we have not had a daytime high hit even 70-degrees throughout the month of December. Nothing is growing at all right now. The good news is that every day it is staying light a little bit longer and before too long, we should see both the air and soil temperatures start to rise.
