I just got back from 2 days of regional meetings at Morgan Run Resort. (It was nice to see and catch up with Dan Hewitson) Anyway, we discussed many topics including the new changes to the American Disability Act that go into effect on March 15th. Fortunately, at least as far as access to the golf course is concerned, we are in complete compliance. Overall, it was a fairly routine meeting as we discussed the usual topics of Human Relations, our Audubon progress, our Avendra purchasing program and agronomics in general. What was interesting, at least to me, is that it is now mandatory for all our superintendents to start and maintain a blog. They feel it is the best way for us to communicate with our members and keep them up to date of the things going on with the golf course. They hope that with our blogs we can be eliminated from writing news letter articles because the timing is so far off. News letter articles for golf maintenance just doesn't make sense. They also don't necessarily want us sending out weekly wires or email blasts either, because they want our communications to be separate from other club communications. It was kind of neat because there were only three of us currently maintaining blogs, so they looked up each blog and discussed them with the group. Then they asked us to explain everything about our blogs and how and why we did them. It was fun helping out the other superintendents. All in all, it was a good meeting and some good information.
