We took the ropes down today on everything except the par 3's, so that should make everyone happy. It should also help to speed up play. We also lowered the height of cut on the greens before this mornings cut. We will check the speed on them tomorrow morning after they are mowed.
We are having a difficult time trying to get the lake between 9 & 18 cleaned up ever since our well pump went out last summer and the lake was 3/4 empty for two weeks. A new grassy weed developed on the bottom of the lake that has a very shallow root system which causes it to break loose in chunks and float to the surface. I have been looking for a small affordable aluminum boat to buy, so we can get in and clean more of it out, but I can't seem to find one here in the desert for some reason. The real problem is that it is our irrigation lake and we need to be extremely cautious about treating it with chemicals, as any chemical that will kill it will also kill the turf on the course as it is pumped through our irrigation system.
