I want to give kudos to my staff for doing a great job this week getting the course ready for the Men's Derby. Especially with all the damage and clean-up from that huge wind storm last Sunday. The greens are rolling right around 11, the fairways and roughs are all mowed out and the entire course looks pretty good. Are there things that we would have liked to had better, of course, but all in all, I'm pretty happy with the way it looks and should play.
We did have one little mishap this morning. A hydraulic line on the greens mower broke on 9 and 18 green. However, my operator Rogelio Espinoza caught it immediately, so it caused very little damage. It was directly in the center of the little strip of green between 9 and 18. Rogelio did a great job catching it, as it could have really done some damage if it had gone undetected.
