I was astounded as I sat on the patio at the clubhouse on Friday morning and watched the Men's Derby play through the ninth and eighteenth greens. I just couldn't believe what I was seeing. I sat and watched ten groups play through the ninth green and nine groups play through the eighteenth green. Of those 76 players, I would say that around 45 to 50 of them hit the green with either their third or fourth shot. Of those 45 or 50 players that hit the green, one young man, who was obviously a guest of a member, searched for and repaired his ball mark. One other person (a member) found his ball mark and took his putter and pounded the ground 10 to 15 times all around the ball mark apparently thinking he could smash the surrounding area down enough to make the surface flat again. That was it. Not one single other person that I watched even made an attempt to locate or repair their ball mark. That is just sad. This is YOUR golf course folks. I would think that you would want to take care of it. I am truly disappointed.
