What a morning. Trying to get the course ready for a major event such as a Club Championship is tough enough, but with having the men's and ladies both on the same day and that being on the weekend, when we only have half the staff available, really puts a challenge on us. With16 guys, that only gives us 8 guy's on each day. With a double tee start, we must send out two greens mowers, two cup changers, two trap rakers, one guy to clean around the clubhouse and a mechanic that also has to take care of any irrigation issues that arise. We can't skip moving either the men's or ladies tee markers to save time and then go back later to do them, because both groups are playing. We would have liked to paint the cups with the hole-in-white paint and done some other little things to have the course in better shape, but we just didn't have the manpower. Throw in the wind that howled all night making another mess for us to get cleaned up and it gets beyond challenging. All I can say it sure is a good thing that we have such a fantastic maintenance staff. Please let them know that you appreciate the hard work they put in all year long.
