In these difficult times, everyone seems to be talking about budgets and money. Superintendents in general usually do a pretty good job of stretching a buck. That's an area that I have always taken great pride in. Having worked at the some very high end clubs, as well as some very budget challenged clubs, I've learned how to get more out of a budget then most would think possible. The key is knowing the areas you can get away with scaling back on, and what areas you can not. It takes original thinking and not being afraid to try some new things. With the way the economy is today, and I'm afraid it will worsen before it gets better, it's going to be a tough challenge for even the most creative thinkers. It's going to be interesting to see what's in store for the future. Fortunately, I've been through similar tight situations like this and that we have a company that knows the value of memberships, and also knows that the golf course is one of the most important aspects to members.
