I guess some people just don't understand what the 90 degree rule is. You can see on almost every hole where carts are staying on the path from the tee until the cart path starts to turn, then they just keep on going straight down the center of the fairway to their ball. Some holes are starting to get significant ware areas that are becoming quite visible, so we have been forced to start putting up ropes along the paths. Personally, I do not like ropes. I think they are unsightly and make the property look like a Municipal Golf Course. Not to mention how time consuming it is to have to pull out the stakes every time you mow. But sometimes you just don't have a choice and you have to help direct traffic. By putting up some strategically placed ropes, we are hoping that people will stay on the path longer once they get past the turn, without causing us more work by constantly having to move the ropes.
Someone again had mentioned putting exit and entry posts on each hole. I thought that we had discussed that topic and everyone understood why we were not going to do that. First off, it creates ware areas, which we are trying to avoid. Second, it creates more work for us because in order to avoid any ware areas, they must be moved at least once a day, twice on busy days and most importantly, if people won't follow the simple 90 degree rule using our new cart paths, they surely won't go out of there way to find the exit and entry stakes.
