I want to start off by thanking all the Members that so graciously donate to the Employee Holiday Fund each year. Most of the staff don't always have the opportunity to say thank you as they would like to, but I want you to know that every employee here at the club (including myself) knows where this bonus comes from and are very grateful for your generosity. Again, Thank You.
This week we had both the Golf Committee and Board of Governors meetings. I thought both meetings were productive and here are a few of the highlights. At the Golf Committee we talked about putting divot bottles in a couple of fairway areas that seem to get used more. The four areas we decided on are #1, #16, and #18 just short of the lakes where everyone takes a drop from, and on the narrow approach in #17 fairway. In both meetings we talked about the numerous requests we have gotten in the past for Course Set-up and how confusing it has gotten trying to fill them all. There will be a letter going out the the various clubs stating that course set-up request will need to be presented in writing as explained in one of my earlier blogs. I also found out in the meeting that some Members are reading my blog and not only was the feed-back was very positive, they said they were going to tell and remind other Members about it. I think this is going to be a fantastic tool for me to get current information out to the membership and a great way for them to respond and ask any questions that they may have.
One final note, we lowered the greens mower yesterday from 0.95 to 0.90 and the current average green speed is 9.8 on the stimpmeter. A Stimpmeter is a tool that is used to measure how far a ball will roll (in inches) across a level area of the green and was designed to be used solely to make sure all greens on a particular golf course are rolling at the same speed.
