Sunday - December 7, 2008

I had the opportunity to play golf yesterday with 3 former General Managers, Ray Miller- Cathedral Canyon CC, Jack Deal-Coto de Caza and Tom Catanzarite-Mission Hills CC. All three of these gentlemen are very familiar with our property and said that they don't ever remember Desert Falls being in this good of condition. They also remarked on how nice the whole clubhouse looked, including the entrance driveway, flowers and the 25th anniversary banners. That really made me feel proud because I know these guys very well, as I have worked for them in the past, and they would not tell me something that they did not believe to be true. In fact, I think they pointed out every tree that needed trimming and every weed growing in a flower bed, along with everything else they spotted. Maybe it was because I shot an 84 and beat them all.
Anyway, somewhere during the round, each one of them noticed and pointed out some areas where we would have some issues if we get a frost because of the Bermuda grass that has come back. If we can get past the shortest day of the year (December 21) without a frost, we might just get lucky. Although, I remember some pretty cold January's and February's in the past as well. We just need to concentrate on right now and worry about what Mother Nature throws at us when the time comes.
