This is the second year in a row now that I have gotten a call on New Years Day about a broken water line. I hope this doesn't become a tradition. This one was on number 17 fairway, just short of the three bunkers. Kudos to Dan for spotting it. I came out yesterday afternoon and got it isolated, blocked it off so carts wouldn't drive through it and then shut down the irrigation and fertilizer injector systems for the night. Now we have two breaks to try to get fixed today. (Remember, we had the one in the entrance island that broke on Wednesday). And of course, today is Friday, which just happens to be a half day for my staff as well. Fortunately, this time of year it's not going to hurt the turf if we need to go a few nights without watering. We'll get it done.
