It had been requested that the reflectors on all the flag sticks be cleaned and that has been done. I also wanted to inform everyone that I am trying to get something worked out with the pro shop to have someone laser measure the yardages on all the par 3 tees so that we can get new yardage plates installed before the season starts. Hopefully we can get some of the sprinkler yardages measured and start getting some of those installed as well. The course is starting to react and recover pretty well to the aerification and fertilizing, as we assumed it would. When the temperatures soared and the Rye checked out all at once, we knew it would just be a matter of a couple of weeks before the Bermuda had a chance to fill in. And last but not least, we are going to try to get the cart path by the Well pump (18 tee) patched up next week.
I also toured the course today with our Regional Superintendent David Hay, to try to see if there would be a way to reduce our over-seeded areas and water usage without having an impact on the playability of the course. We discussed not over-seeding the Driving Range and just painting the target greens. This would allow us to keep the range open throughout the over-seeding process. We also discussed not over-seeding a tri-angle shaped area to the right of holes 1, 2 and 3 that doesn't come into play and an area between 14, 15 and 16 that also doesn't come into play. With the current water restrictions throughout Southern California, that we know will sometime soon hit the Coachella Valley, we better start getting prepared to be able to reduce the irrigated turf areas on our property. If we are proactive with this, we will have a much better chance of negotiating when the time comes.
