As you play for the next two weeks while we have the ropes up, you will notice the two white stakes with the blue tops at the tee end of the cart paths and again at the green end of the cart paths. This is the new "Gate System" that the Board of Governors have been asking to be put into place. Their thoughts are that if we can control the cart traffic, we will not need to put up any unsightly ropes throughout the season to control traffic and wear areas. The idea is to leave the cart path by going through the gate, and then return to the cart path by going through the gate at the green end of the hole. The gates will be moved daily or as wear indicates and will be used in conjunction with the 90 degree rule. We will start using the gates when we take the ropes down after we determine that the new turf will support cart traffic. To make it simple to understand, you should never leave the cart path before you get to the gate, and you should always return to the cart path before the gate at the green end. You can use the 90 degree rule anywhere in between the gates.
I will be using some vacation time and will not post again until I return.
